Mt. Pinatubo was formerly a slightly known volcano and it was inactive for four hundred years. However, on June 15, 1991 it exploded and the eruption was considered as the second greatest eruption in the 20th century. Prior to 1991 eruption, Mt. Pinatubo was 1745 meters in height and was just 200 meters higher that the adjacent peaks, which leftovers of previous volcanic edifices of the volcano and covered it from sights from distance.
